KOTA SAMARAHAN: Additional space is being sought at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Binyu to ensure students from SK Tanjung Bako, who are temporarily studying at the school, are comfortable there.
Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, stated that an application would be submitted to the Ministry of Education (MoE) by early July at the latest.
She said discussions began on March 26 with the state Education Department (JPNS) engaging with a container supplier to provide temporary space at SK Binyu.
“On April 1, a site visit to SK Binyu was conducted with the supplier, and on May 29, JPNS held a discussion with the supplier to prioritise the layout plan for the proposed additional space at SK Binyu,” she said after the Rangkaian Kasih: Sumbangan Bantuan Peralatan Sekolah programme at SK Binyu, here on Sunday.
As for SK Tanjung Bako, Nancy said the building, which has been deemed unsafe by PWD Sarawak, will undergo block repairs.
“PWD needs to detail the repair work and cost estimates first before submitting it to the MoE and JPNS, targeted by June 20,” she said.
On the donation event, Nancy revealed that the contributions included canopies, plastic chairs, air coolers, water filters, and fans.
SK Tanjung Bako has 157 students, while SK Binyu has 92 students.
