KUCHING: A new health clinic is expected to be built in Tatau for the local community.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the Ministry of Health (MoH) is currently identifying a suitable site for the construction of the clinic.

“The application for the new health clinic project will be submitted to the upcoming Rolling Plan as soon as the site procurement is completed,” she said.

Dr Zaliha said this in response to Selangau MP Edwin Banta who asked if the Tatau Health Clinic should be expanded during the Parliament session yesterday.

Earlier, Edwin had asked if the clinic could be expanded so that it could accommodate the treatment needs of 31,000 residents in the Tatau area.

On a related note, Dr Zaliha said upgrading and repair works were carried out at the Tatau Health Clinic since 2019.

She added that the upgrading and repair works include rewiring and upgrading the switchboard.
