KUCHING: Four housing projects in Pantai Damai constituency, namely, Sentoria Phase 5 and Phase 7, and Spectra Housing 1 and 2 that should have benefitted low-income earners (B40) are still abandoned.
The prices of houses in these projects are between RM100,000 and RM300,000 each and the abandonment of these projects are affecting nearly 1,000 house buyers who are mostly civil servants.
New Sarawak Tribune and its sister company Suara Sarawak talked to some of the house buyers.
KHAIRUL ALI, 36
Spectra Housing 1 buyer
We hope the Sarawak government will take note of this because this housing project has been hanging there for far too long. All of us have to bear the high cost of living, coupled with other monthly debt payments such as car loans, rents of the places we are living in and many more. We really hope that the house purchase policy will be reviewed because it seems to favour and protect the developers rather than the buyers.
FAIZAL ISMAWI, 41
Spectra Housing 1 buyer
We have only one request as house buyers — please complete the house projects immediately. It has been delayed for almost three years and until now, no progress can be seen. We are paying every month, not only for our houses that should have been completed by now but also for the rents of the houses we are living in at the moment.
SUHERMAN SARI, 36
Spectra Housing 2 buyer
The problem that we, the Spectra Housing 2 buyers, are facing is even worse because the pillars and the foundations of the houses have not even been erected and placed. The piece of land that our houses are supposed to be on is still forested. The payment of RM725 has been made every month and almost a year has passed but there have been no changes. Therefore, we hope the relevant parties can do something regarding this matter.
