KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian stressed that there is a need to raise awareness on the opportunities available in Sarawak.
This, he said, is available to Sarawakians who are currently employed overseas for them to return and contribute to the state’s growth.
“I have managed to speak to some Sarawakians who are employed overseas during the state government Chinese New Year open house.
“We need Sarawakians to come back and contribute to Sarawak so that we can achieve the goals and targets of being a high-income and developed state,” he said.
He said this when met by the media during the state government Chinese New Year open house at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Dr Sim pointed out that the state government strives for Sarawak to be financially strong and ensure that the wealth is trickled down to the people’s household income.
“There are many things that we want to do for Sarawak’s children in terms of education, health, infrastructure developments, and many more.
“So, I urge everyone to remain united and bear with us a bit more because the nation cannot be built overnight.
“I hope that we can start to soar higher in the sky like the Year of The Dragon,” he said.
On the event, which was attended by a 5,000-strong crowd, Dr Sim said the overwhelming reception by people from all walks of life is a reflection of the unity enjoyed in Sarawak.
“It is important for us to continue this harmony so that we can build the nation together.”
