BINTULU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Sarawak chairman, Senator Jaziri Alkaf Abdullah Suffian is optimistic about the chances of PN winning the Bintulu seat in the coming 15th general election (GE15).
“Our candidate here has been moving around a lot in the past three years,” he said.
“Many initiatives have been carried out, among them, an initiative last week to offer 500 job opportunities here which amounted to RM25 million in investment.”
Jaziri who is also the chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said this with regards to the chances of the PN candidate, Duke Janteng wresting the Bintulu seat from incumbent Datuk Seri Tiong Kiong Sing (GPS-PDP).
He also cited other initiatives made by PN in Bintulu for instance, the contribution of 68,000 food baskets and ‘Koperasi Hab Pertanian’.
“We want our candidate to win so these initiatives can be felt by many people especially in Bintulu”, he said in front of 1,000 PN supporters at the nomination centre in Dewan Suarah Bintulu on Saturday (Nov 5).
Jaziri said the main plan is to increase the local community’s socioeconomic status and to also increase the quality of education especially in rural areas.
However, if PN were to lose, he guaranteed that it would not be the end for PN in Sarawak because they will serve the community to the grassroots level.
“We will continue, win or lose, we will continue to provide better service and will continue to do so as long as we are here”, he said.
In the GE15, four candidates from PN are contesting in Sarawak namely Datuk Ali Biju and Jugah Muyang who are defending Saratok and Lubok Antu as Bersatu candidates with Duke nominated as a new candidate for Bintulu and PAS candidate, Hamdan Sani contesting in Batang Lupar under the PN umbrella.
