KUCHING: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Sarawak will not participate, support, or involve in any campaigns conducted by parties or candidates opposing the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the upcoming Jepak state by-election.

In a statement issued today, PN Sarawak chief Senator Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian said they have taken note of the decision made by PN Supreme Council through its Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin not to field candidates in the by-election.

“This is due to the fact that the PN Sarawak is still focusing on the political service agenda and strengthening its position in Sarawak,” he said.

To this end, he expressed hopes for all party members and supporters to continue their service towards ‘Bumi Kenyalang’.

Earlier today, Hamzah Zainuddin announced that PN will not be contesting in the Jepak state by-election to focus on retaining the Kemaman parliamentary seat in Terengganu on December 2.

He said that PN component parties are also currently occupied with annual general assemblies at division and national levels.
