SIBU: The area around Kutien Memorial Garden here has big potentials to be turned into a leisure park, says Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek.
In making the suggestion, he said such a transformation would greatly benefit the place.
“In this area, we have the memorial garden, Bukit Lima indoor stadium, open-air basketball and volleyball courts and swimming pool.
“We can create more facilities so that we can transform the place into a big leisure park,” he said when met by reporters at a mass cleaning campaign here today.
Chieng stressed that the ample land around the park could be cleared to give space for more facilities.
“We, as the wakil rakyat (elected representative), will back up Sibu Municipal Council to transform the place so more people will be attracted to come here for leisure activity,” he said.
He hoped that the council would be considering this proposal as such a plan would not only develop the place but attract more people to the park.
