KUCHING: Thirteen political secretaries to the Premier collectively lodged a report against ‘Bozz Jebat’ at the Satok police station today following a widely circulated video containing derogatory remarks aimed at Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
John Nyigor, who led the group, clarified that the report addressed not only the offensive remarks but also the sentiments detrimental to the community.
“In addition to belittling the Premier, the individual also made statements as if Sarawak was not part of Malaysia. This matter could cause discomfort within the community, and we aim to stop such actions.
“We want to put an end to such behaviour because if it’s not stopped, it might happen again in the future,” he said.
Nyigor sought action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (AKMM) and Section 504 of the Penal Code against ‘Bozz Jebat’.
He called for swift action from authorities such as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police to address the issue promptly.
“It’s crucial for the harmonious coexistence of our diverse populace,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed receiving three reports related to the case, including two at the Santubong police station and one at the Gita police station.
The reports concern the actions of former Umno member Zool Amali Hussin, alias ‘Bozz Jebat,’ in the viral video criticising Abang Johari’s recommendation of Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as the federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister.
The case will be investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act/Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (AKMM).
