SIBU: Three men, including two teenagers, were apprehended here last night in for engaging in dangerous motorcycle riding.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, revealed that the three suspects, aged 15, 17, and 23, were taken into custody during a special operation known as ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan,’ which took place on Jalan Awang Ramli Amit.

Zulkipli said that the suspects are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with reckless and dangerous driving.

The operation was conducted by a team from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit, operating under the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD). It began at 10 pm and concluded at 3.30 am.

Throughout the operation, a total of 31 individuals were assessed, and summonses were issued for various offenses, such as driving without a license, making structural or exhaust modifications, lacking registration numbers, failing to display the mandatory P sticker, not having side mirrors, and incomplete accessories.

Moreover, eight motorcycles were seized for documentation purposes. The police have also urged parents to closely monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from engaging in unlawful behaviours.
