KOTA SAMARAHAN: Police are on the hunt for two men who robbed a grocery store at Kampung Empila here last Saturday (Apr 24).

The incident happened around 3pm when the 55-year-old owner was taking care of her store alone.

According to the complainant (owner), a car with an unidentified registration number pulled up in front of her store. Two men got out from the car and entered the premises to buy groceries.

As the complainant was taking the cash (from the suspect), one of them snatched her gold bracelet and chain before fleeing the scene.

Kota Samarahan OCPD DSP Sudirman Kram who confirmed the case, said the complainant estimated her losses at RM12,000.

“Investigations found there were no other customers in the premises except for the complainant and the suspects.

“The suspects were not armed with any weapon when they robbed the grocery store. Both of them wore caps and face masks at the time of the incident,” he said.

Efforts to locate and arrest the suspects are in full swing and the local community has been urged to contact Kota Samarahan CID if they have any information relating to the case.

Sudirman advised the community to be careful and always be on the lookout for any suspicious individuals who would take advantage of wearing face masks to hide their identities while committing a crime.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
