KUCHING: Police are actively pursuing three additional suspects in connection with the assault on a school security guard at Batu Lintang Secondary School.

Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said police had received a report regarding the incident and managed to arrest two suspects involved in less than 24 hours.

“Investigation papers have been opened under Section 148 of the Penal Code and so far, a total of five suspects are involved in this case.

“We have arrested two suspects, and we are currently tracking the other three,” he told reporters after attending a Community Policing Walkabout at India Street here on Friday (June 21).

ACP Ahsmon noted that the initial arrest of the two suspects was a success for the Kuching district police team, based on public information.

He stressed that the police will not tolerate criminal activities happening in the city.

A video on social media that went viral which lasted four minutes and nine seconds showed four men beating up a security guard at the school.

In the video, the security guard was approached by a man and then was attacked by a group of men at the school’s security hut shortly after.

Two individuals in the hut fled to safety while the security guard was beaten by four suspects inside the school premises.
