PADAWAN: Two foreign detainees managed to escape from the Tapah police station lock-up here today (June 12), leading to a large-scale manhunt.

The escapees, identified as 21-year-old Kelvin and 31-year-old Bony, both Indonesian nationals, are now on the run.

Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, announced the initiation of ‘Op Tutup,’ a police operation dedicated to tracking down the escapees. The operation will cover the entire Padawan district in an effort to swiftly locate and apprehend the individuals.

According to Azman, the duo successfully fled the police lock-up at approximately 1 pm. They were originally arrested by Kota Sentosa police on June 7 and subsequently transferred to the Tapah police station lock-up for further investigation.

Both escapees are currently under investigation for violating Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Local communities have been advised to exercise caution and assist the authorities by providing any pertinent information regarding the whereabouts of the escapees. If anyone has information, they are encouraged to contact the Padawan district police headquarters (IPD) at 082-862233 or the nearest police station without delay.
