KUCHING: Police have arrested a total of 35 individuals, including two Indonesians, for various offences during a three-day operation codenamed ‘Ops Bersepadu Khas.’
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said that the operation aimed at curbing burglaries, robberies, and vehicle thefts throughout the city, took place from Feb 26 to 28.
This operation involved 147 senior officers and members from all divisions and police stations under the district police headquarters (IPD).
“Our officers arrested two foreign men under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft, and two local men under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing loss or damage to property.
“Additionally, under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, the police arrested three local men and seized three plastic packets containing 0.87g of suspected syabu.
“Under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, the team arrested 28 locals, comprising 26 men and two women,” he added, noting that all detainees are being held for further investigation.
During the operation, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division conducted operations and checks on 165 individuals, comprising 118 men and 47 women.
He further added that a total of 81 traffic summonses were issued for various offences after 208 vehicles were inspected.
Ahsmon also said that the team inspected 46 premises around the city.
A total of 6,184 individuals and 5,005 vehicles were checked at roadblocks mounted at Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha, Jalan Stutong-Aeroville, Jalan Temenggong Tan Meng Chong, Jalan Tan Sri Sulaiman Daud, and Jalan Padungan-Abell.
