Police nab two in illegal gambling raids

KOTA PADAWAN: Police arrested two persons during separate raids on illegal gambling activities here.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the first arrest took place at Moyan Square Commercial Centre, Jalan Batu Kawa-Tondong around 2.45pm last Thursday.

“A 38-year-old woman believed to be involved in online gambling activity, was spotted in the premises and detained for inspection.

“The team managed to confiscate a phone, cash amounting to RM138 and a paper with suspected identification and password codes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second arrest happened around 4.30pm at Batu Kawa Commercial Centre where a 22-year-old man believed to be involved in lottery number sales was detained.

The raiding team seized a phone, cash amounting to RM230 and a paper with illegal lottery numbers.

Both suspects along with the seizures were brought to the police station for further actions.

Both suspects are being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) and Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
