BAU: Narcotics police arrested two jobless men on suspicion of engaging in substance abuse in a house at Kampung Skiat Baru last Monday (Apr 11).
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the suspects aged 28 and 34, were detained for questioning in different areas of the house around 11.50am.
“The first suspect was detained in the living room and we found a plastic packet containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine inside a bag.
“The team entered another room and detained the second suspect, who handed over another plastic packet containing drugs.
“The drugs weighing 1.30g and valued around RM180, were seized as evidence,” he said.
The suspects were brought back to the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) office where both were tested positive for drugs. They had previous records.
Poge said preliminary interrogations found that the drugs were bought from another friend and a portion of the seized drugs had not been used.
“Both suspects gave in to peer influence and they have been abusing drugs for the past few years based on their past records,” he said.
The case will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The police chief assured that Bau NCID would continue to conduct occasional inspections and raids in the town, villages or drug infested places to stop and curb the illicit activity.
He urged the public to tip off the police, assuring that confidentiality and anonymity would be maintained.
