SIBU: Narcotics police arrested a local man for allegedly possessing various drugs worth RM20,269 on Wednesday (June 5).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested around 5 pm in an entertainment centre at Lorong Langsat.

“During the raid, police found five ‘Bailehui’ packets containing suspected ecstasy mixture drugs weighing 109.35g, 10 pills of Erimin 5 (17.05g), 38 packets containing crystalline substances believed to be Ketamine (31.55g), 215 pills of ecstasy in various colours (66.26g), and 13 cigarettes containing suspected ‘Magic Mushroom’ (13.43g) on the suspect,” he said in a statement today.

The suspect, who has two prior records, tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, ketamine, and benzodiazepine.

Zulkipli said the suspect is being remanded for seven days starting yesterday (June 6) to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted under Section 39B, the suspect may face the death penalty.

Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 15(1)(a), the suspect may be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed for a term up to two years or both, and be placed under supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
