KUCHING: The Sarawak contingent of the Royal Malaysian Police are here to protect and serve with integrity, a senior police officer reminded here yesterday.
“As the longest serving law enforcement body of 217 years, our officers have dedicated themselves to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens, regardless of race or religion,” assured Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Lim Bak Phai.
He said this after attending a prayer session coinciding with the 217th Police Day at the Kuching Buddhist Association on Friday (Apr 19).
“Today, 70 of us gathered to celebrate the 2024 Buddhist Prayers, coinciding with the 217th Police Day. This is an annual affair that symbolises the unity and solidarity between the Buddhist faith and law enforcement,” he said.
Paying tribute to the rich heritage and cultural diversity of Sarawak, Lim said the prayer session underscores the importance of religious and cultural harmony in society.
Looking to the future,he said, society should collectively strive to build a safer, more inclusive environment for future generations.
In another development Lim said Sarawak police are also providing financial assistance to retired and in-service police officers who are facing various challenges.
“Let us honour the sacrifices and dedication of our police officers, both past and present. Let us also reaffirm our commitment to promoting unity, understanding, and mutual respect among all communities in Sarawak,” he added.
