KUCHING: Sarawak police will be setting up 11 roadblocks in three CMCO zones in the state to control inter-zone travel.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail revealed that 308 police and army personnel would be manning the roadblocks from 12.01am on Jan 13.

For Zone Kuching (including Padawan, Serian, Samarahan, Bau and Lundu), police decided to set up five roadblocks.

Four roadblocks will be set up in Zone Sibu (including Sarikei) and two in Miri.

Throughout the CMCO period from Jan 13 to 26, those who want to enter or exit the affected zones are required to obtain official permission from the police.

Those in the essential service sector are required to produce letters from their companies or employers.

Anyone without police permit to travel will be ordered to turn back.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) decided to implement CMCO in the three affected areas because of a surge in Covid-19 positive cases recorded in the last 14 days.
