KUCHING: All police roadblocks throughout Sarawak will continue to be enforced even if the Emergency Ordinance (EO) 2021 is revoked.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said this to New Sarawak Tribune when asked whether the roadblocks would be dismantled under the revocation of EO.
“Even if it (EO) is repealed, all existing roadblocks throughout Sarawak will still be maintained.
“Aside from that, the authorities will still issue compounds to members of the public if they are found to be in violation of the standard operating procedures,” he said on Monday (Aug 2).
Aidi assured that the compound rate still remains according to the latest value, which is according to the type and serious level of the offense.
For an individual, the compound rate starts from RM1,500 to RM3,000, according to the type of offense. Whereas for premises, the compound rate starts from RM10,000 onwards.
