SIBU: Police here are seeking the public’s help to identify an unknown man who was found dead in a barge docked at Tanjung Kunyit on Tuesday (Oct 11).

Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the body was found by a shipping company manager and had lodged a report at Lanang police station around 10.30am.

Following that, police together with firemen were dispatched to the scene to retrieve the body.

“Initial investigation showed that the body was fully clothed in the barge. The victim is believed to be in his 30s, however, no identification documents were found.

“The police also ruled out any foul play at the scene. The case is being classified as sudden death,” he said.

Zulkipli added that an autopsy will be carried out to determine the actual cause of death.

In this regard, the police call upon any witness, individual, heir or employer who has any information about the incident or has lost of a family member or employee, to come forward and channel the information to the police through the nearest police station or directly contact the investigating officer Sub-Inspector Davaraj Subramaniam at 014-3941236.
