KUCHING: Political stability will continue to be Sarawak’s pillar for advancement and greater success in the future.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said political stability being the cornerstone of Sarawak’s economic planning and development is crucial for the people to continue working together and being united to maintain political stability for the harmony and interests of Sarawakians.
“This is important in ensuring the prosperity and wellbeing of the people of Sarawak.
“A stable political environment is also crucial in our efforts to attract foreign investment as a catalyst for Sarawak’s economy,” he said in his opening address at the First Meeting of the Third Session of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 6).
Wan Junaidi stressed that the state is fortunate to have a leadership that prioritises development agendas despite diverse backgrounds and political ideologies.
“We need a strong Sarawak government to ensure political stability, guaranteeing the welfare of the people and solidifying Sarawak’s economic performance in the long term,” hr said, adding to the success and progress the state has achieved thus far are the result of political tolerance among various parties and the implementation of development initiatives.
“Political stability will continue to be our pillar for advancement and achieving greater success in the future.
Sarawak, he said, is renowned throughout Malaysia as a model of unity in diversity, where its people live in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
“Unity is the cornerstone of harmony and the strength of Sarawak’s economy.
“Let us not forget that the strong unity and harmony we enjoy today are the result of tolerance and mutual respect among Sarawak’s diverse communities, religions, and cultural backgrounds,” he said.
Wan Junaidi called upon everyone to continue nurturing unity and harmony in the state.
“We must respect one another and refrain from touching on sensitive matters related to religion, ethnicity, and culture,” he said.
