LAWAS: Political stability enables Sarawak to pursue its rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) more effectively, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He noted the commitment of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to ensuring the state’s continued progress by focusing on improving the standard of living, education, security, health and welfare of its people.
“This strength is made possible through unity and cooperation among all parties, which have contributed to Sarawak’s political stability.
“In GPS, we are dedicated to focusing on our state and fighting for what is rightfully ours. Our mission is to maintain a stable and peaceful Sarawak, where the welfare of the people is our priority.”
Awang Tengah said this at the opening ceremony of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Branch Delegates Meeting for N81 Ba’Kelalan for the 2024–2027 term on Saturday (Nov 16).
The Bukit Sari assemblyman urged PBB to remain steadfast alongside other GPS component parties in advancing Sarawak’s development.
“Believe me, if we want to secure a better future, fight for our rights and achieve greater development, we must remain strong as a united party.”
Awang Tengah also proposed that the Sarawak government enhance youth development through initiatives such as providing free admission to Sarawak-owned universities.
He underscored the importance of instilling noble values in the younger generation to foster good character, high morals and mutual respect among Sarawakians.
Present at the event were Lawas MP and PBB Sarawak Supreme Council member Datuk Henry Sum Agong, along with political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak and PBB Sarawak Supreme Council member Awangku Jinal Abedin Datuk Pengiran Jawa.
