KUCHING: Political stability is required at this time so that the government can focus more on combating the pandemic and rebuilding the economy, says Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
She emphasised the importance of rebuilding the people and country’s economies through the Post-Covid Recovery Plan.
“Stop the strife and the power struggle. Political turmoil will worsen the situation in our country and it is the last thing that Malaysia needs now,” she said on Monday (Aug 16).
The Dalat assemblywoman said political turmoil would make the recovery of the country more difficult.
When asked for her thoughts on Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation, she said he had lost the simple majority and had no other option but to resign.
“Yang-di Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has appointed him as caretaker prime minister until a successor is found.
“With that, his efforts to fight the pandemic and help the affected people to survive can be continued.”
