MUKAH:  Polytechnic Mukah Sarawak (PMU)    always emphasises the importance of  providing a conducive  learning environment for its students.

In making the statement, its  director Associate Lt. Col (PA) Abdubrani Yunus recalled the malfunctioning of the air conditioner at the polytechnic’s multi-purpose hall recently.

He said the incident was due to the breakdown of its chiller.

“It happened near the examination period of our students. Believing that such condition would affect their performance, we had to look for other alternatives,” he said.

He thanked the PMU cooperative for willing to   contribute a huge sum of money to  buy  several units of air-conditioners to be installed in the hall.

“With this priceless contribution   from the cooperative, our students  were then able to sit  for their examination in a cool condition,” he added.

Abdubrani urged the students to support the cooperative  by buying their school equipment from it.

“A certain portion of the profit or margin earned by the cooperative goes to  the polytechnic,” he explained.

On the academic performances of the students, he hoped all of them could score the College Grade Average of  3.00 and above.

“Last semester,  37% of our students scored 3.0 and above and this semester, 47% scored 3.9 and above. This  coming semester, we hope  57% of our students will achieve the scores.  Of course, my dream is to see all the students get at least CGA 3.00,” he said.

He also hoped all the students would master the English language which would be an added value to their skills and competency when they entered the job market in  the near future.
