LONG LAMA: Poor internet access in rural areas can contribute to students falling behind academically, especially during the movement control order (MCO) period, said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

Hence, he is hoping that relevant authorities could finds ways or solutions on how rural students can continue with their learning process during the MCO.

“Because rural students have no access to the internet like students in the urban areas, it would be at their disadvantage during examinations.

“Technology is improving, but sometimes getting internet access to rural areas can be difficult,” he said.

Earlier, Dennis lauded the Education Ministry’s initiative to conduct home-based learning to students throughout the MCO.

However, Dennis raised his concerns for the rural student population, whereby Internet access is very much limited.

On another note, Dennis, reminded the Long Lama population to abide the MCO in order to maintain the district as a ‘green zone’.

“Adhere to the MCO — we must work together in ensuring that Long Lama remains a green zone,” he said.
