KUCHING: The popular and iconic Reservoir Park here will bear a new name – Unity Park, once upgrading work is fully completed next year.

“There will be restoration work on the buildings that could be turned into restaurants, gym or cafe, upgrading to the water features, installation of LED lighting, CCTV cameras and building of gazebos that represent the various ethnicities in Sarawak.

“This park will be an ideal place for folk who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life,” said Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

He hoped that corporations would help improve the quality of the park as part of their corporate social responsibility programme.

Dr Abdul Rahman was speaking at the inauguration of the International Friendship Garden in conjunction with the 25th Miss Tourism International World Final 2022/2023, on Today(Nov 16).

He pointed out that the reason why the new name Unity Park was chosen was due to Sarawak’s different cultures, races, religions and how Sarawakians are the epitome of unity and solidarity.
