SIBU: Increasing the number of Community Leaders (KMKK) in the Sibu Jaya area is a reasonable consideration.

Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, said he attributed this proposal to the rapid population growth in the area.

“This move is to better serve the people in the area,” he said in a statement today (April 13).

During his Hari Raya visit here, Tiong met several residents and local community leaders including Pemanca Sharifah Ainie Sayeed Alwi. The Dudong assemblyman also took the opportunity to inspect local infrastructure projects.

“I will discuss this matter (increasing KMKK and infrastructure issues) with the Secretary of the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), Ng Siang Wei.

“I will ask SRDC to arrange a meeting with the local residents as soon as possible to obtain further details so that relevant action can be taken,” he added.
