KUCHING: Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan shares the same sentiments as the community leaders in his constituency on the issue of not being included in the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

He stated that by virtue of Balai Ringin being under the Serian administrative jurisdiction, the constituency should be one of the direct beneficiaries to the GKCDA master plan.

In stating this, he said this is to ensure every settlement or village under the Serian division will be covered by the development agenda.

“It is more practical to manage by way of divisional functions instead of political or communal interests.

“The Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA) and Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) for that matter have similar distinctive features whereby all the state and parliamentary constituencies are amalgamated into a common master plan.

“We wish the GKCDA to be the same where no one will be left behind, do not sideline us from sharing the pie,” he said yesterday.

Snowdan pointed out that he was made to understand from media press circulations that various labs have been done to identify development projects to be implemented.

“Looks like we are not in the boat and we are being sidelined. I believe our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s agenda is more holistic and widespread than this.
“The number of villages in Serian division registered under the new sub-district of Balai Ringin is not less than 100. Moreover, these villages are located in Serian division and should be included GKCDA. Similarly, the villagers in Sri Aman division are parked under SADA.

“And this is a significant figure considering the overall number of residents who inhibit the settlements. By all means, do not sideline them,” he said.
