KUCHING: The number of COVID-19 cases in Sarawak dropped today from 413 to 385, taking the tally to 301,883.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) stated that of the total, 101 cases were in category 1 and 282 were in category 2, while there was only one case each in categories 3 and 4.

“The breakdown of the cases in the state put Kuching on top with 107 cases, followed by Miri with 51, 42 in Bintulu, 41 cases in Sibu, Sarikei with 24 and Samarahan with 14 COVID-19 cases.

“Nine cases were in Simunjan, while Serian, Bau, Dalat and Sri Aman each recorded eight cases. There were six in Limbang and five each in Lundu, Betong and Pusa,” it said.

Pakan, Matu and Tanjung Manis each have four cases and three cases each were recorded in Mukah, Lubok Antu, Marudi, Kabong, Daro and Belaga.

Two cases each were in Asajaya, Kapit, Saratok and Meradong, and one case each in Tatau, Lawas, Selangau, Subis, Sebauh and Julau.

Today, the state recorded a total of four fatalities. One was on April 5, a 71-year-old woman, who passed away in Sibu Hospital. She had cancer.

“An 89-year-old woman passed away on April 6 in Kuching at Bau Hospital. She had no comorbidities.

“There were two fatalities on April 7 — a 52-year-old man who passed away at Sibu Hospital. He had high blood pressure and pulmonary tuberculosis.

On the same date, the youngest fatality was a 24-year-old woman in Samarahan who passed away at Sarawak General Hospital.

The committee revealed that the victim had neuron disease and required support daily.

Other than that, the number of clusters has decreased to four after the Jalan Batu Kaya cluster in Lubok Antu ended today.
