KUCHING: Former Jepak assemblyman, the late Datuk Talip Zuplpilip, was posthumously honoured with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Entrepreneurship at the 13th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) held today (Nov 4).
Widow of the late Talip, Datuk Dr Zaliha Abdullah attended the ceremony to receive the posthumous Anumerta Award for her late husband, presented by the Crown Prince of Kelantan, who also serves as the Pro-Chancellor, Dr Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra.
The ceremony took place at the Tuanku Chancellor Hall, UMK Bachok Campus, Kelantan.
Shortly after, the ceremony observed a moment of silence to commemorate the passing of Talip.
The 13th UMK Convocation Ceremony lasted for four days from Nov 4 to Nov 7.
This graduation ceremony witnessed a total of 2,839 graduates set to receive their respective degrees, including 25 Doctor of Philosophy graduates, 75 Master’s degree graduates, and 2,739 Bachelor’s degree graduates.
For the record, UMK made history by being listed as one of the best young universities in the world, ranking between 501-601, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Ranking for 2023.
