Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep organised a visitation last Thursday (July 6) to showcase the rich history and culture of Bau district to Xing Wei Ping, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China.

Among the visited locations were the Twelve Kongsi flagpole holders at Maw San, Old Bau, SJK(C) Chung Hua Taiton, Tasik Biru, Golden Hill Temple, Paku Rock Maze Garden, and the Lung Hua Kong Musi Temple.

Jinep, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport, said these locations were deliberately chosen as they each represent a significant aspect of Bau.

The visitation kicked off at 8.30am with a local breakfast at Good Luck Café at Old Bau, where Xing and his delegates were treated to local delicacies.

The breakfast was followed by a visit to the Twelve Kongsi flagpole holder here at Maw San, a monumental landmark that signifies the legacy of Liu Shan Bang, who was known as a freedom fighter when Sarawak was still under James Brooke’s governance.

Next, the tour continued to SJK(C) Chung Hua Taiton, a Chinese primary school where 60 percent of its students consisted of Bumiputera students.

According to Jinep, the visit to the school was to showcase the district’s multicultural aspect, emphasising that people of all races can coexist harmoniously within the community.

Later, Xing and his delegates were brought to Bau’s famous tourist attractions, visiting Tasik Biru, Golden Hill Temple, Paku Rock Maze Garden, and the Lung Hua Kong Musi Temple.

The last visit of the day concluded with a lunch session at Jinep’s residence at Bung Konis, Kampung Tanjung Bowang.
