KUCHING: A double tripping incident occurred along the Kemantan-Sarikei 132kV line, interrupting supply to Sarikei, Tanjung Manis, Daro and surrounding areas at 5.41pm today.

A statement from Sarawak Energy Berhad said a technical team was immediately deployed and was able to safely re-energise the lines and restore supply progressively by 6.25pm.

A subsequent tripping incident involving the Sarikei-Tanjung Manis 132kV line occurred at 7.06pm affecting the same areas.

Sarawak Energy said the Sarikei-Tanjung Manis 132kV lines were re-energised at 7.15pm.

It said heavy lightning activity in the affected areas was highly likely to have caused both tripping incidents,” it said.

“Our technical team will continue to monitor the situation and are on standby to ensure quick restoration.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the incidents,” Sarawak Energy said.
