PADAWAN: Six premises in areas under the jurisdiction of Padawan Municipal Council had their electricity supplies disconnected last Thursday on suspicion that the premises were used to carry out illegal gambling.

Padawan District police chief, Supt Aidil Bolhassan, said the operation was done under Section 21A (1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

“A police team from Padawan Criminal Investigation Division along with two Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation (Sesco) employees were involved in disconnecting the power supplies from 11.35am until 2.10pm,” he said in a statement.

The premises are at Fu Mini Mart in Beratok Bazaar, Uphold Mini Mart in Mile 17, Semenggoh Mobile in Mile 12, Sky Villa Residences in MJC Batu Kawa, Vivo phone shop in Jalan Batu Kawa, and Bao Gui Trading in Jalan Batu Kawa-Tondong.
