ROBAN: Settlements which do not have access to electricity supply yet have been assured that they will get this amenity.

But they have to be patient as the state government is implementing power supply projects in stages, said Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.

He assured that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state administration will continue implementing the Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF) scheme.

“Since it was introduced in 2018, I understand that as much as RM230 million has been used to ensure the people of Sarawak can enjoy 24-hour electricity supply,” he said.

“So any settlement area that has not yet received electricity supply, I hope they will be patient because this project will be implemented in stages.”

He said this after a dialogue session between ALAF project applicants in Kampung Melayu Roban with the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) Uni-Kenyalang Consultants and the contractor, Pekat Energy Sdn. Bhd.

In his constituency itself, he said, there are still settlements waiting to be supplied with electricity.

“For those areas which already have access through the ALAF project, thank you.

“As for those where it is currently being implemented or at the application stage, we hope the government can give priority.

“This is considering that electricity supply is a basic facility that is very necessary in everyday life.”

Mohamad also called for the electricity supply connection project in Kampung Melayu Roban to be accelerated so that residents can improve their socio-economy.

Deputy Head of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka Branch Kasdi Pandi, Branch Secretary Gapor Ahmad and Kampung Melayu chief Roban Ali Nusi were also present.
