KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pending Youth chief Goh Tze Hui today told Pending assemblywoman to stop using the PR1MA Housing Scheme as a bargaining chip in her political tricks.

In a press statement, Goh said it was known that the policy of PH government has caused much distress to the existing buyers and as the current ruling party Democratic Action Party (DAP) is obliged to be pragmatic in ensuring the buyers, both retrospective and prospective, to enjoy the discounted price, rather than setting a time limit for discount in engaging their political agenda.

He was responding to the remarks by Yong on the issue of PR1MA house.

Goh pointed out that while PR1MA houses were marketed, DAP did no investigation in detail on relevant prices. It is unreasonable now for DAP to inexplicably throw out accusations stating that buyers had indeed bought the houses overpriced.

“If it was overpriced, they should make a thorough investigation on PR1MA which is an agency under the Prime Minister’s Office, or even lodge a report to the Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). If they fail to prove their words, obviously it shows that DAP is taking advantage of the PR1MA house issues to fulfill their own agenda, which is contrary to the interest of the people,” Goh said through the press release.

According to Goh, DAP has repeatedly stressed that Pakatan Harapan (PH) government treats everyone equally; there is no reason or excuse for them being unable to give the same price rebates to those existing buyers who had already purchased.

“DAP has always told the people that the four component parties in PH are on an equal footing. If this is the case, Chong Chieng Jen, as the chairman of Sarawak PH, should give back the rebates to the existing buyers. If this fails to happen, it can only be explained that the representatives from Sarawak PH have no say in the federal cabinet, and PH does not listen to the voice of the people of Sarawak.

“DAP keeps pointing their fingers at former government and SUPP, suggesting that they adhere firmly to their tradition and culture all along, in which ‘everyone else is always wrong’. This has now become contagious among PH leaders at central level.

“My stance on the PR1MA house is clear: It is a housing scheme that is beneficial to the people. Since PH has implemented a 30 pct price reduction on the house, it should be applied under all occasions, not limited to just the promotion period.”

He further stated that the 100 days promise by PH during GE campaign, really matters for the people. The sweetly drafted manifesto, undeniably, has managed to win the hearts of voters, who have now been let down, revealing that it’s indeed a dishonoured or bounced cheque.

“We challenge DAP to ensure PH government fulfill their promise by returning immediately 20 pct oil royalty and 50 pct tax revenue to Sarawak, so that more cheap houses can be constructed for the people of Sarawak. It is now obvious that Sarawak DAP, being the agent of PH, has ignored the Sarawakians for their own positions and interests.”

In addition, he also reminded Yong on her several promises which include investigation on Tun Mahathir once PH is in power, no negotiation and no dishonoured cheque in returning 20 pct oil royalty to Sarawak immediately as well as black and white in recognition of UEC.

“Now after more than 100 days under PH governance, these promises are just ‘empty talk’. Who is the one who goes back on her words?” Goh’s statement concluded.
