KUCHING: Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Sarawak Women Education Bureau organised a yasin, tahlil and tazkirah recitation ceremony at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly surau on Thursday (Feb 3).
The ceremony was held to commemorate the late Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, the former Head of State who passed away last Friday, and also the late Puan Sri Datin Amar Fredahanam Mahmud, the Maksak Women chairperson who passed away on Jan 22.
Fredahanam is the wife of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), 40 guests participated in the ceremony.
Among them were Deputy State Secretary (socio-economic transformation) Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his wife; Abdul Aziz; and Maksak Women exco members.
The ceremony began with the recitation of tahlil led by state chief imam Sahibul Fadillah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi. This was followed by asar prayers as a congregation.
