SIBU: In the early hours of today, September 4, a devastating fire razed a furniture store along Jalan Tiong Hua in this town.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) swiftly responded to a distress call at 2.39 am, dispatching firefighters from Sibu and Sungai Merah stations to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they were met with a harrowing sight—a three-storey building with its ground floor nearly consumed by the raging inferno.
Using water from a nearby fire hydrant, the firefighters diligently battled the blaze, managing to bring it under control by 2.59 am.
Subsequent overhaul operations were conducted to prevent any chance of a flare-up.
Miraculously, no injuries or fatalities were reported during this intense ordeal.
With the area secured, the operation was officially concluded at 3.41 am. Investigations into the cause of the fire and the extent of the damages are currently underway.
