KUCHING: A pre-qualification round for the Worldskills Malaysia Sarawak 2017 competition was held at the Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEXS) here, yesterday.
The event also saw the presence of director general of Skills Development Department (JPK), Nidzam Kamarulzaman, who was at the premises for a visit.
Being held from 18 to 21 September, 2017, the winners will move on to compete in the finals to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from 27 to 29 October, 2017.
The top three winners of the competition will receive RM3,000, RM1,500 and RM1,000, respectively.
All the winners comprising the top three and consolation winners will each receive a certificate.
There will also be a special Chief Minister’s award with a RM5,000 prize and a certificate for the winner.
The competition is jointly organised by JPK, Ministry of Human Resources, and Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Research.
It aims to showcase the youths’ talents in various fields and is in line with the state government’s aspirations in fulfilling the agenda for the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) which needs a highly-skilled workforce.
