KUCHING: All precautionary steps have been taken by state and federal agencies since early this year, in case the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak situation gets worse.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this in his social media posting after news broke out that Sarawak now has three positive Covid-19 cases.

He noted that it is time for Sarawakians to work together and help fight as well as contain the deadly disease in the state.

“Everyone has a role to play. Please help to do your part – practise personal hygiene, observe cough and sneeze etiquette, social distancing and others.

“Please help to co-operate on public gathering, non-essential travels and so on.

“All federal and state agencies have been doing the necessary preparations for this worst case scenario since late Jan 2020,” the posting read.

He advised Sarawakians to stay calm, to not fear and not spread rumours.

“Face mask is of limited availability not only in Sarawak but throughout the world.

“Let us use it appropriately and don’t waste single use face mask unnecessary,” Dr Sim added.

Dr Sim’s social media postings that educate members of the public on how to use a face mask as precautionary measure against the Covid-19 outbreak.
