KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has carried out an active case detection (ACD) operations at Premier 101, one of the public hotspots in Tabuan here, last Sunday (Oct 25).

In its Covid-19 daily statement on Monday (Oct 26), the secretariat said the operations was carried out following the detection of a new Covid-19 positive case involving a China citizen last Friday (Oct 23).

“A total of 271 individuals were screened by the State Health Department (JKNS) during the operation and they are still waiting for their lab test results,” the statement said.

The committee also confirmed the closure of two schools — Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Wira Penrissen and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kpg Haji Baki — which was implemented from Monday (Oct 26) until Nov 1 to give way to cleaning and disinfection works.

“The State Education Department has issued a directive to close SMK Wira Penrissen and SK Jalan Haji Baki for seven days to enable disinfection and cleaning works,” it said.
