KUCHING: The collaboration between the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is described as having good intentions.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has briefed Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) on the collaboration between his party and PSB.
“We, GPS, feel that if the intention is good, let them have the collaboration, but of course PSB is not a member of GPS.
“If people want to offer their help, why not? That is our stand,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after the GPS Presidential Council Meeting 2023 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here tonight (July 15).
Abang Johari, who is also the GPS chairman, stressed that above all, the most important matter is that Sarawak is known to have strong unity.
“So, that is why if people want to have us, they must subscribe to our policy, and the key is our policy of strong unity,” he said.
Earlier, he said that the objective of the meeting was to update the GPS record.
“There have been a lot of changes in our component parties, with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) having new office bearers, including their secretary-general, and for the PDP, a new deputy president as well as a new secretary-general, including their Women Wing.
“This means we need to update our record, and at this meeting, we have approved the appointment of the nominees for the respective parties to be the members of the GPS supreme council, and as a result of that, we need to inform the Registrar of Societies (ROS),” he said.
