KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, arrived in Sydney on Wednesday to attend the ASEAN-Australia Business Forum 2024.
The special flight carrying him and a state government delegation landed safely at Sydney Airport at approximately 2.33 pm local time.
He was accompanied by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, and Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, chief Political Secretary to the Premier.
Abang Johari is scheduled to deliver a keynote address titled ‘The Powerhouse of Green Economy in ASEAN’ at the ASEAN-Australia Business Forum 2024, which will be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney on Thursday.
Following this, Abang Johari along with other invited panellists, will participate in a discussion focusing on ‘Energy Transition and Green Economy’.
The panellists include president of Asia Pacific Fortescue Energy Eva Hanly, director of NSW Circular Economy Innovation Network Prof. Veena Sahajwalla, chairman of Viva Energy, Geelong, Australia Robert Hill AC and chairman of Enserv Holding Co Ltd, Thailand Jimmy Tanachat Pochana.
Abang Johari will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Australia-Malaysia Business Council (AMBC) NSW and the Sarawak Australia Business Chamber (SABC) at the Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant, Sydney Harbour.
The ASEAN-Australia Business Forum 2024 from August 29 to 30, will gather prominent speakers to share their expertise across various disciplines, including agriculture, food security, green and renewable energy, with a special focus on decarbonisation, digital transformation, visitor economy, medicine, and health.
Abang Johari is scheduled to return to Kuching on August 30.
