KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been invited to attend the National Malaysia Medical Association (MMA) Convention and Scientific Congress 2024 and the 64th MMA annual general meeting (AGM) here.
MMA Sarawak extended the formal invitation to Abang Johari during a courtesy call at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Thursday (Aug 22).
The delegation, led by MMA president-elect Datuk Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira, said the convention and AGM will take place at the Riverside Majestic Hotel from Sept 5 to 7.
“We have invited the Premier to be the guest of honour at the conference,” Dr Kalwinder told reporters.
He said the conference is expected to attract a positive response from doctors nationwide.
“Around 300 to 400 or more delegates are expected to attend,” he said.
Dr Kalwinder said that he will officially assume the role of MMA president during the AGM.
Also present during the courtesy call were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also the Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Ministers and members of MMA Sarawak.
