KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from the federal Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil at his office, in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) yesterday morning.
According to Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN), in a statement, the purpose of the courtesy call was to discuss several issues related to communications in Sarawak and comprehensively solve the problem of telecommunication towers that have yet to provide telecommunication services.
Fahmi also discussed plans for the future including issues involving the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint 2023-2030 to ensure that the digital economy can be strengthened, built and maintained in the country.
After the visit to the Premier, Fahmi held a meeting with State Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Julaihi Narawi at his office.
Earlier, Fahmi greeted the media who were covering the first meeting of the second session of the 19th Sarawak DUN at the media centre, in DUN.
Fahmi, in the framework of his visit to Sarawak starting yesterday until tomorrow (May 21) is scheduled to attend an ‘Engagement Session with the Minister of Communications and Digital with JAPEN’ at its office here.
Also present during the courtesy call were Julaihi, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, chief political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, chief secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, director general of JAPEN Datuk Mohd Sukari Ab Hamid, chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Dean and Kuching MP, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen.
