KUCHING: The police have been urged to investigate a writer for defaming Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In making this call, Abang Johari’s political secretaries said the content of the articles written by blog writer Nehru Sathiamoorthy may create unrest among Sarawakians and disrupt harmony.
“Taking into account the severity of the situation and the danger posed by these articles which contains slander and insult, we have lodged a police report and urge the police to take the following action:
“Firstly, is to conduct a full investigation against the slander made by the writer of these articles so that he is called, investigated and have his statement taken,” said a political secretary to the Premier, Datuk Nyomek Nyeap when speaking to reporters today.
He urged the police to investigate the writer for the offense under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 504 of the Penal Code.
“Secondly, we urge the police to work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to ensure all articles that were published by him (Nehru) is taken down from the public domain,” he said.
Earlier, Nyomek and several other political secretaries filed the report against Nehru at the Satok police station.
Among the Premier political secretaries present were Rosaline Neging; Susan Clement Ingun; Niponi Undek; Kua Jeck Seng; Angellie Stephen Raja; Fung Kok Shiun and Abang Abdul Aziz.
Nyomek, in his police report referred to three articles written by Nehru, published on several news platforms.

“In these three articles, Nehru Sathiamoorthy who uses the pen name TheRealNehruism have defamed and slandered the position and the credibility of Sarawak’s top leader without fact or basis.
“This (police) report is to prevent individuals who have ill intentions to disrupt the peace and harmony in Sarawak through baseless accusations. This can cause tension among the different races in Sarawak as well create political instability.
“This is as well as create tension between the state government and the federal government,” Nyomek said.
