KUCHING: Sarawak has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing RM13 billion in revenue for the year 2023, marking a new record for the state.
In announcing this, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the revenue’s increase, compared to the previous month’s RM12.7 billion total, was attributed to dividends received in December.
“This increment is expected to increase as we implement the new revenue engineering on top of the various Bills that were passed during November.
“It is estimated that around RM13.1 billion of revenue was achieved and we hope that by 2024 and 2025, the revenue will continue to increase,” he said.
He said this when attending the Bishop of Kuching’s Christmas Open House at St. Thomas’s Cathedral Parish Hall, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg Kuching here today (Dec 25).
Expressing gratitude for the unity within the community, Abang Johari credited this unity for enabling the state government to focus on Sarawak’s development.
Additionally, he hinted at forthcoming plans by the state government to further boost revenue without disclosing specific details at this time.
“There are a few more things we will do to increase our income, but I cannot reveal them now,” he said.
