Premises raided for repacking subsidised cooking oil

MIRI: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) on Yesterday (July 4) raided a premises in Senadin here for selling repackaged subsidised cooking oil.

A further check on the premises found 1kg packs of cooking oil totalling 2,112kg with an estimated value of RM5,280.

Miri KPDNHEP chief Joe Azmi Jamil said the premises was believed to be selling subsidised cooking oil in repackaged form to industrial consumers at a lower price.

“Industrial consumers such as factories are not allowed to purchase subsidised cooking oil, which is only meant for end users,” he said.

During the 11.41am raid, Miri KPDNHEP also detained a 25-year-old man, believed to be the premises caretaker, for further investigation.

Scores of boxes containing packets of 1kg subsidised cooking oil were seen inside the premises for repackaging process. The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
