PADAWAN: The preservation of the Bidayuh Biatah language is important in maintaining the culture of the Bidayuh community.
In stating this, Transport Deputy Minister Datuk Jerip Susil said that the efforts to establish and maintain the Sikura Piramin Bidayuh Biatah Nursery until today should be commended.
“This effort is very meaningful and we should improve the educational development of Bidayuh children,” he said as reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
He said this at the Certificate and Prize Presentation Ceremony of Sikura Piramin Bidayuh Biatah Nursery in Kampung Segu Bunuk here on Saturday (Feb 25).
Adding on, he stated that education is the main pillar for the development of the people and the country.
“Therefore, we must support and invest in our children so that their educational development is well taken care of,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, approved an allocation of RM50,000 to the Sikura Piramin Bidayuh Biatah Nursery committee to pay the salaries of teachers who previously only received wages of RM900.
It is understood that Taska Sikura Piramin Bidayuh Biatah is managed under the administration of the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) to give exposure to Bidayuh children to master the Bidayuh Biatah language and as an initial preparation to enter the world of schooling at the primary school level.
