MIRI: The Convention Centre and Recreation Centre (CCRC) of Kenyalang Smart City here has been awarded the prestigious five-star rating and crowned the winner in the Mixed Use Architecture category for Malaysia at the International Property Awards.
The CCRC also received certification for qualifying in the same category for the Asia Pacific region. This remarkable achievement was celebrated during a glittering ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The recognition from the International Property Awards highlights the support garnered by the Kenyalang Smart City project from the Sarawak Government and the Miri community,” stated Teo Ah Khing, Chairman of Teo A Khing Design Consultants (TAK).
During the unveiling of the Kenyalang Smart City master plan, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian presided over the event, which was attended by local and international industry leaders.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg emphasized the importance of the Kenyalang Smart City in shaping the future of Sarawak during his speech at the KSC Summit.
This award serves as a testament to the commitment of Miri and Sarawak in providing top-notch facilities to support the community.
The International Property Awards, known as the most prestigious property awards globally, attracted more than 1,000 participants from ASEAN, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand across various categories.
An international panel of experts judged the entries, recognizing companies’ exceptional achievements in the property and real estate industry.
Representing TAK, the Senior Advisor, Ng Chee Choy, and Design Director, Hairul Nizar Tamaddun, graciously accepted the awards.
TAK has been consistently recognized with numerous awards over the years, including the AIM Awards for the Pearl of the Caribbean masterplan, the International Property Awards for Best International Leisure Activity Architecture in the Asia Pacific Region, the Asia Pacific Property Awards, the World Luxury Hotel Awards, and the Arabian Property Awards.
Spanning 543 acres, the Kenyalang Smart City is an integrated development that presents a visionary future for Miri and the wider East Malaysia.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Tourism Minister, expressed his unwavering support for the development’s potential impact on Sarawak’s tourism industry.
During the Kenyalang Smart City Summit, he emphasized that the city’s ideal location, along with attractions like the Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will greatly benefit from the Kenyalang Smart City.
Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang of Miri City wholeheartedly endorsed the project, particularly highlighting the need for a convention centre to host larger events.
He warmly welcomed the convention centre included in the Kenyalang Smart City development project.
