KUALA LUMPUR: The Prisons Department has denied that Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was involved in the tender for the supply of prison clothes, as spread on social media recently.

The department in a statement said that all procurement for services and goods were carried out through the eProcurement System to ensure transparency in the implementation of government tenders.

“The tender is also subject to financial regulations and the companies brought forward for consideration by the Home Ministry’s Procurement Board have passed the evaluations by the Tender Opening Committee, Technical Evaluation Committee and Financial Evaluation Committee,” read the statement yesterday.

It said the procurement board had also met on July 10 to finalise the winner of the tender.

“Therefore, there has been no delay in this tender process,” it added. – BERNAMA
